My friend Stefan Kraan has today shared a lovely recipe of doughnuts with seaweed in it. Some people wanting to share the story, recipe and pictures can't, because of corona virus restrictions. Such restrictions arn't fair. That virus do not spread from something published at the internet.
Here is Stefans recipe:
Ingredients
500 ml Luke warm milk
500 gr flour
7-10 gram Dried yeast
4 table spoons of sugar
1 egg
No salt if using seaweed otherwise 1 teaspoon
Pre soaked Palmaria or Ulva or mix (10 g in total)
1. Activate yeast with 25 ml milk and 1 table spoon sugar
3.Close bowl off with tea cloth or cling foil and leave dough to increase to double the size (about 60 min).
2. Put flour in bowl and add yeast, all milk and sugar and mix with mixer till sticky. Add the egg and seaweed (or any other filling if you like, e.g. chocolate chips, raisins, cranberries, apple etc).
4. Heat frying oil (sunflower or vegetable oil) in a big pan (deep enough) to about 180 or 190 degrees (Smoke just visible)
5. Get 2 table spoons en spoon out a heaped spoon full of dough and scrape off with other spoon above pan and let it glide in gently in the hot oil.
6. The oliebol will brown on underside and flip over after a minute or 2 by itself or just turn them over. Fry them in about 5-6 min golden brown.
7. Remove from oil and let drip dry on tissue paper and cool down a bit
8. Pending on your taste , eat as is or use some icing sugar or syrup or what ever rocks your boat.
