Anyone who study seaweed knows it's not only something good to eat. It can also be used for other good proposals like fertilizer for vegetables, animal feed and even medicinal.
But if one want to know about the already integrated medical use of seaweed compounds, one really have to dive deep in the news about it.
I've done that with dedication for 20 years.
Many years ago I stumbled upon a plaster that is used at hospitals to heal wounds that will not heal by nature.
Often seen at the below shin of elderly people but also happens for people sitting in wheelchairs.
I didn't really know how good it works before I bought the plaster at the picture to help a friend to heal the ugliest deep abscess that sat in the neck just above the person's neck vertebrae. I tried other methods first but had to admit that I needed to get some of that patch I had read about.
So what is the compound in that plaster from seaweed that can do such a trick on the human body?
It's called Alginate and has traditionally been extracted from the seaweed Ascophyllum nodosum.
But You know ... what is the use of me having some good experience with a thing if there are not other good reports about it?
I've experimented a little myself too with arthritis pain with good results ... but I kept thinking I needed someone else to come up with likewise good experiences ... but whom could I ask to do that???
Simon Bernard Ranger is a good friend of mine for whom I have the pleasure sometime to make his breakfast with seaweed. Simon is most likely the man in Northern Europe who knows the most about the values of Ascophyllum because he has been working with it for so many years as a seaweed he enjoyed the most to study.
I was having the thought in my head if extract from that seaweed can work so good, could it not be that seaweed in itself could have same good results? I asked Simon if he has some personal experience with it and OMG he has, but that is when it comes to heal 2nd and 3rd degree burns the latter mentioned not that easy to heal without cooperation with local Hospital.
Simon has told me two stories. The first is this one:
The following pictures shows the rest of Simons healing process. Not to mention the first thing he felt after adding the soaked granules of the seaweed was release of pain. That's why he was so much in a hurry with things.
Simon would have liked to shoot a picture of how badly burned his three fingertips were, but he was more eager to start the healing. Which is understandable.
He made a mix of the seaweed and water, cutted the finger tubs from a glove, added the mix to the fingers and in a hurry putted them on the fingertips to start cooling the pain and the help the healing process. As You can see at the last picture there is within short time no injure left of having behaved so stupid like Simon did in his garden.
OH most of all injuries happen at home being private even for me. We are all at risk and need to know what to do when disaster happens once more. Mostly we need to rely on what we can do ourselves. Doctors aren't always there to help us. They also are in need of time off to rest.
Then another day Simon is as stupid again we can all be. He is cooking with steam at highest degrees and do not notice the lid was not probably fixed. A stream of the extremely hot damp made a piece of his skin at an underarm open and the skin below become totally red.
The two quoted links doesn't work so here they are well working: https://www.oceansofgoodness.co.uk/ and
